Looking Back on 2012

It's always bittersweet to say good-bye to a year, isn't it? 2012 brought tremendous joy, tons of company, and lots to be grateful for. Let's take a look back, shall we?

In January, I talked Andy into playing along with my do-it-yourself maternity photography. It was a quiet month. I wrote about not being a Homeschool Superstar.

In February, we waited and waited and waited for our little Posy Pie to arrive. I was extremely patient.

Or not. ;)

We went on a family hike out in the icy cold to take our minds off the waiting.

And then: Prize! :) Posy was born on a lovely Ash Wednesday. The Heavens rejoiced.

In March, Primrose took over the blog. :)

And we got lots of out-of-town visits from grandparents.

(And from Aunt Tiffy, too!)

The girls danced in their first Irish Stepdance show.

Miss Posy Pie was baptized on Easter in April. It was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I wrote a reminder to myself about my single priority. I still need that reminder.

May brought an 11th wedding anniversary for Andy and me. We celebrated as a family.

And drank up the spring with gusto.

There was lots of sister love in June.

And I made End-of-Year Folders to wrap up the school year.

There were baby toes. Yum.

And books. Of course.

Andy gave me a quiet weekend with just the baby. It was bliss.

Meanwhile, he took the bigs on a camping trip at the Grand Coulee Dam.

In July, we spent our days doting on the baby (of course). Here she is with her own personal entertainment committee. We also had lovely visits from friends- first Meghan with her crew, then Karla with hers. I shared my Color-Coded Progress Lists for the upcoming school year.

Primrose and her friend ran a VBS for neighbor kids in August. It was a smashing success.

Andy and Snap went on a backpacking adventure in the Rockies.

And Posy had her first taste of solid food!

September brought Aunt Haylie and sweet baby cousin. We laughed for two weeks straight while we tried to keep up with this little dude. (And we failed.)

We picked apples and blackberries galore.

I played with my camera lots in October. This little peanut had a birthday.

And she threw a Halloween party for her friends, all of her own accord.

In November, Snap and Tulip made their First Reconciliation. I wrote What's Working: 5 Strategies for Right Now here on the blog.

Which brings us to December, in which I didn't write anything here (social media fast) and didn't take hardly any pictures. It turns out I need the blog to keep me snappin'! ;) We announced the addition of a new little bundle of love. When we took this picture, we had no idea there were actually TWO little bundles of love in there!

2013 promises to keep us on our toes. We can hardly wait. :)

  6. What an amazing year you had, Sarah! Thank you for sharing! You left out one of my favorites, though. Remember when you did that hysterical Ryan Gosling-inspired photo of your husband! That was a good chuckle! What a good sport he was!

  7. I loved looking back over my year too. It was amazing to see all the things we had done and been through again. It was bittersweet to see how my kids have grown (and I have shrunk, lol).

I was going to ask you about your blog fast. I have done it in the past and it has always reminded me why I blog. It really honestly encourages me to do more and inspire me more. How about you?

The first time I did it, I did not expect the result! I gave up all blogs and blogging for Lent and found that even my faith suffered! Seeing other moms going through the same things and also living our faith was so inspiring that going even 40 days without took a toll.

Anyway, I imagine you won't have much time for blogging with twins (!!!!) soon. I am so happy for you and your beautiful family.
