I keep it on auto unless I'm shooting in the evening indoors- then I move it to tungsten. But I think I need to start changing it outdoors, too- I was just reading somewhere (can't remember where... Plate to Pixel, maybe?) that I should almost always be adjusting my white balance before shooting.
I'm starting to shoot in RAW so that I can fix the white balance better in Lightroom- on jpegs, it's so hard to fix the white balance in post processing! Almost impossible.
Well I tend to adjust until I find the WB I like best. When I shoot indoors (most indoor pics are shot in our sunroom/learning room where we spend most of our days) I will often adjust it to the sunny or shade icon which gives my pictures a warm tinge to them...sometimes I like it but sometimes I don't. I almost never like what the auto WB gives me which is why I change it but my sis in law is a pro and says I should NEVER change the WB in-camera. She says I should always do it in post processing. The problem is that I'm either lazy or impatient and rarely do any post processing. I shoot in RAW AND jpeg so I can just post jpeg pictures online and save the post processing for pictures I want to actually print.
Ahhh... this kind of cuteness is as comforting as chocolate! This was my second dose today, because earlier I was going gaga over the soft little folds on the back of my little guy's neck (17 mos) as he was sitting on my lap in the sunshine. I almost ate him up. Your picture is scrumptious!
So Sarah, do you walk around with your camera around your neck all day long? You have taken the most candid shots consistently you have to have that camera attached to you somewhere? :) They are precious and beautiful.
Ha! Pretty much! When the baby was first born, the kids joked that she wouldn't know what my face really looked like without that "big black thing" in front of it. ;)
But I admit that for this photo, I took her clothes off on purpose and asked her where her belly button is. :)
I have been following your blog for several years now (and just recently learned how to leave a comment!). We are just starting out in homeschooling - we have a 1st grader, kindergarten, and then a 3 yr old and 1 year old. Your blog gives me such joy and encouragement. I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know what a great job you are doing - as well as to say congratulations on your expectant twins!! I will be keeping you and your beautiful, growing family in my prayers!
Cutest ever.

I love her chair! Can you share where you purchased it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHer Nana bought it from Pottery Barn. It has her name stitched on the back, too (cute!) but I hid that so I could post this online. :)
